Patrick Boniface reports on the interesting commercials he spotted at this year’s Faversham Festival of Transport in May.
The Faversham Festival of Transport took place over the weekend of May 18th-19th in this quintessential Kentish town. On the Saturday visitors could take free trips around the town aboard historic buses while, on Sunday, the medieval town square was filled with an interesting and varied display of classic motor vehicles.
Hidden in plain sight among the MGs, Rovers and other classic cars, however, were some marvellous examples of commercial vehicles, ranging from the small to the powerful, in the form of two steam rollers. Alongside the steam rollers was a fine 1933 Sentinel S4, that’s affectionately known as The Lion. A late arrival on the Sunday was a 1906 Alley & MacLellan steam wagon.
