John O’Groats to Land’s End road run: Peter Burdass will be tackling this epic road run on his 1949 Ferguson TE-D 20.

The charity run, which is scheduled to start on June 4th, 2023, is intended to raise general awareness about Motor Neurone Disease, as well as plenty of money for the organisation that does so much essential work to help fight it.

“We lost our mum to Motor Neurones Disease 15 years ago, on her 60th birthday,” Peter explained, “so our family is well aware of the terrible and devastating effects this disease can have. I come from a farming background, and have fully restored the 1949 Ferguson TE-D 20 that I’ll be driving on the run.

“I have the Motor Neurone Disease Association’s full backing for the project, as well as sponsorship from various parts suppliers who helped me with the tractor’s restoration. The route is planned already, and I’ve organised a small team of friends who will, in stages, drive vehicles to support me along the entire way. Then, once at Land’s End, we’ll all turn around and set off again for Scotland, where I’m scheduled to make an appearance at the Alyth & District Agricultural Show.

Peter’s little grey Fergie, on which he’ll be driving the length of the UK for charity, in 2023.

“The idea of this advanced publicity is to give people plenty of time to support the cause by donating to the JustGiving page I’ve set up. I’m also hoping to take the tractor to Orkney and raise as much as possible at the 2022 Orkney Tractor Gathering, which will be celebrating 75+1 years of the Ferguson tractor.”
