Posted by Chris Graham on 10th October 2022
We report on on the recent and vert successful Fjordsteam 2022 event in Norway, which attracted some very interesting historic ships.
In early August, the Fjordsteam 2022 event was held in Bergen, Norway, with 67 historic ships, trams, steam trains, planes, traction engines, buses, classic cars and fire engines in attendance. It was the fifth Fjordsteam event and was attended by an estimated crowd of 150,000 people.
This major event attracted some of the most significant preserved ships in Europe, many of which were open to visitors. Others offered trips around the bay, and some of the smaller vessels operated harbour cruises. Among the many events, visitors could attend lectures on board the Norwegian steamer Hestmanden, which dates from 1911. A parade of sail ended the event before the ships departed for their home ports.
