100-year-old Blackstone: This Blackstone Oil Engine, serial number 142605, was tested on June 29th, 1920, so is now celebrating its centenary year.

Back in June, Desmond and Terry Bostock – owners of the Blackstone oil engine, serial number 142605 – held a small and private crank-up on their property, to celebrate the engine’s 100th birthday.

The Blackstone, a type AS rated at 6½hp, was tested on the June 29th, 1920, and supplied new to ML Blamey & Sons of Truro, Cornwall.

To add a little more atmosphere to the occasion, there were five Powell engines running throughout the day, including two with consecutive numbers; 2244 and 2245.
