Epic tractor journey
Posted by Chris Graham on 24th May 2020
Graham Dell and Ted Lake’s epic tractor journey around the UK was scheduled to start from the Much Marcle Steam Rally in June. However, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the steam rally has been postponed until September 19-20th, but Graham and Ted are still keen to find a way to make the 2,500-mile fundraising journey a reality.
“We will do everything we can to make this possible, as long as we can start off by early September, so that we can cover north Scotland before the snowy season,” Graham told Tractor & Machinery magazine.
The journey will be no mean feat. Starting in the West Midlands, Graham (79) and Ted (82) will cover the length and breadth of the UK, heading into Scotland, the Orkney Isles, the Isle of Skye, Northern Ireland, and Wales, before finally completing their journey in Graham’s home town of Malvern.
The painstaking route, due to be completed on a Massey Ferguson 2135 and a David Brown 780, is expected to take roughly a month to complete, and will raise money for three charities close to Graham’s heart; Cancer Research UK, Fibromyalgia UK and Lupus UK.
