Friends of King Alfred Buses (FoKAB) has confirmed the highlights of the services that will be operating for classic bus enthusiasts during 2023.

While in keeping with the policy of recent years, The Original King Alfred Running Day will be held in the spring – on Bank Holiday Monday (May 1st), and it’s planned to feature 1929 Leyland Lion RU 8678, on its return to Hampshire from Scotland.

A smaller event, involving at least six King Alfred vehicles and two visiting buses, got the season started on January 1st. This maintained a long-established tradition and provided a service for the many supporters who enjoy travelling on these historic buses during the winter months. As usual, the bus services were centred on the Broadway, in Winchester, with the first journey leaving at 09:15 and the last at 16:20.
