Sedgemoor Vintage Show: Rob Hopkins, from Weston-super-Mare, has owned this 1958 Scammell bonneted Highwayman for 25 years, after it was retrieved out of a hedge!

The 2022 Sedgemoor Vintage Show was held near West Huntspill, Bridgwater, in Somerset on 9-10th July, courtesy of Geoff Reasons, as Joseph Lewis reports.

An appropriate registration number for the day on this 1949 Thornycroft Sturdy, which is owned by Roger Clarke from Highbridge.

There were 35 listed commercial entries presided over by steward Terry Moore, ranging from a 1942 Scammell CD45 owned by Derek Hallett, from Martock, a 1989 ERF E14 recovery truck from local owner, Martin Frost, and a c1991 ‘general tractor transporter’ Volvo FL7 owned by Paul Bateman, from Banwell.

Kevin Patch, from Spaxton, has owned this 1951 Bedford MSD for more than 30 years. Purchased in red oxide primer and missing the rear wings, the MSD previously worked on Jersey on a small farm – moving potatoes and cattle – before coming back to the mainland during the early 1980s.

Paul Bateman uses his Volvo FL7 with a 40ft beavertail trailer to take his tractor entries to shows. The FL7 was previously used in the Stow on the Wold area.

Another highlight of the commercial section parade, was this 1973 ERF A Series, owned by commercial steward Terry Moore, from Wedmore.

Terry Rickard, from Edithmead, owns the Leyland 550FG on the left while Paul Gilbert, from Bridgwater, owns the impressive 1960 Scammell Mountaineer in a bright livery reflecting the sunshine.
